The world is facing a human displacement crisis unlike anything we have seen since WW2. There are currently 60 million people globally who have been forced from their homes due to conflict or persecution. An estimated 20 million of them are Refugees.
NZ has an annual refugee quota of 750 per year. In 2015 our government announced it would accept an additional 600 Syrian refugees over a period of 2-3 years under an emergency intake. This is a one-off intake and there has been no permanent increase to our Quota.
KIWIS ON BOARD call for an increase to our Refugee Quota and recognise that the Syrian Crisis at this time demands our particular attention.
KIWIS ON BOARD provides a platform for New Zealanders to show our support in welcoming and supporting all refugees.
